Staff

Gonzalo Castro Moreno (Jerez de la Frontera, 1979).

Professional archaeologist specialized in bioarchaeology and physical anthropology, having directed more than 50 excavations in the province of Cádiz.

Doctor in History (2016, University of Cádiz). His doctoral thesis is specialized in bioarchaeology, "Funeral Archeology and Paleopathology of the religious population of Jerez in modern times: A first approach". Degree in History (2003, University of Seville) and Master in Archaeology and Heritage (2010, Cádiz).

Associate researcher at the Forensic Anthropology Paleonthology and Bioarchaeology Research Center (FAPAB, Sicily, Italy). Member of the Spanish Association of Paleopathology and of the Professional Association of Bioarchaeology.

His line of research focuses on projects of funerary and death archaeology during medieval and modern times.

His studies in bioarchaeology have focused on the architectural spaces of crypts, cemeteries and churches.

 


Biannet Perez Moreira (California, United States 1986)

As a graduate student of Biological Anthropology at the State University of New York in Binghamton, NY, she has experience working with human remains in laboratory settings. She has applied forensic anthropological methods of identification to conduct estimations of biological profile components in medicolegal contexts. She has two years of experience teaching biological anthropology and introduction to archaeology in laboratory settings.


She obtained her Bachelors in Anthropology from William Paterson University in New Jersey (2020), and her Associates in Science from Bergen Community College (2018). She has attended the Sanisera field school in 2019 and 2022 where she has excavated in the necropolis on both occasions.


Her research is focused on forensic anthropology applied to mass atrocity victim identification in Latin America. She is pursuing a Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention certification concurrently with her Biological Anthropology graduate studies.
